For nearly a century the Palestinian people have felt the pressures of outsiders scheming to take over their homeland. For the past sixty years the invaders have systematically undertaken the ethnic cleansing of Palestine to make way for new Israelis. Taking a little more land each time until Palestinians have nothing. Britain has been in control of this from the beginning. I’ll take you through somewhat of a timeline and a summary of how it happened. It is actually quite hard to grasp an idea of it all due to the reality that just like anywhere else greedy people in power play their cards for their win with disregard for all that suffer the consequences.
For this purpose the invaders have constructed a narrative the central theme of which is
“God gave this land to us five or six thousand years ago, and the fact that we have seldom lived here in that period is immaterial. No matter who has lived on the land for the past several thousand years, it is ours and we intend to take it. We do not intend to pay for the land or the property on it that we may destroy, and we do not intend to tolerate the future presence of any historic owner on this land. We, the ringleaders of this scheme, the Ashkenazim, do not have ancestors who were ever a part of this land, but we will take this land anyway and found a Jewish state.”
This letter to Karl Marx in 1928 is very telling:
In 1917 the British Secretary of State Arthur Balfour wrote a letter to Lord Rothschilds who was a member of the British Jewish community promising British support for a national home for the Jewish people in Palestine. It was Britain that decided that the Jewish need for land was greater than the Palestinians already living there.
A Balfour Declaration was signed in 1917 this changed much in the Middle East by creating the state of Israel. It wasn’t a new idea as the Jewish people had their first neighborhood in Israel in 1860 but migration came more for Jews at the turn of the 19th century. They migrated to Syria which included Palestine. It was 1897 when the first Zionist congress was held. Zionism is defined as an international movement originally for the establishment of a Jewish national or religious community in Palestine.
In October 1930, the British Colonial Secretary, Lord Passfield (Sidney Webb), issued a formal statement of policy on Palestine on behalf of his Majesty’s Government, a document known as the Passfield White Paper. At that time Britain had governed Palestine as a Mandate under the authority of the League of Nations since 1920. The White Paper restates British policy in relation to the governance of Palestine, emphasizing in strong terms that, pursuant to Britain’s obligations under the Balfour Declaration, Arabs and Jews were to be treated equally. The White Paper proposed the establishment of a Legislative Council that would include representation from all communities, giving them all a say in the governance of Palestine. This paper could have been the Arab’s chance as another uprising was feared but they did not agree.
Zionists believed that the Balfour Declaration gave them the right for a Jewish homeland in Palestine despite the fact that only ten percent of the population were Jews. The Balfour letter would spark a hundred year conflict. In 1936 there was an Arab revolt, a bid for independence because the Arabs feared Jewish economic power, mass Jewish immigration, and Britain’s support for Zionism.
What sticks out most to me is so much immigration to Palestine for Jews but when they truly needed it during World War II Britain said no more, this was when Jews became angry and violent so the problem was then handed over to the United Nations. In 1947 came a Palestine Partition Plan which was recommended by the newly in charge U.N to divide Palestine into both an Arab and a Jewish state, Jerusalem would then be put under international administration. A question might remain regarding whether the Arabs and Jews have been pitted against each other from outside forces.
Shortly after the UN took control there was Jewish independence. The Arabs declared a protest strike and instigated riots that claimed the lives of 62 Jews and 32 Arabs. By the end of the second week, 93 Arabs, 84 Jews, and 7 Englishmen had been killed and scores injured. From November 30-February 1, 427 Arabs, 381 Jews, and 46 British were killed and 1,035 Arabs, 725 Jews, and 135 British were wounded. In March alone, 271 Jews and 257 Arabs died in Arab attacks and Jewish counterattacks. Supposedly always more with the Jewish deaths…
In the armistice of 1949 Israel and Arab states divided up the land but there was no Palestinian state, just two regions now known as Gaza and the West Bank. Around 700,000 Palestinians fled or were driven out of their homes. This was called ‘Nakba’ meaning the great catastrophe. There is much ado on the internet proving that one main reason for WW II was to help create the state of Israel ensnaring America to back it up all the while. Thanks again Rothschilds.
Needless to say, since then there have been wars, uprisings, terrorist attacks, and diplomatic deals. Now many Palestinians live under permanent Israeli occupations cut off by the Israeli security border. The Balfour Promise did not keep its word for Palestinians, it was claimed that nothing shall be done which may prejudice the civil and religious rights of existing non-Jewish communities in Palestine.
The rest of the world, where land ownership is bounded by rigorous rules, does not object or raise issues of law and fairness. This means basically that the world will tolerate Zionist empire building and will allow deliberate violation of the rights of the Palestinian people to achieve it. There is an ironic side to this scenario. Virtually all of the Palestinians being mistreated by these processes are Semites. They are the sons of Shem just as the Jews who are referred to as the “people of the book”. The leading Jews who are pressing the case are the Ashkenazim, who are not Semites. A good amount of Zionists don’t believe God exists but they do believe he promised them Palestine. See how that works?
To be honest before I could stand behind the Palestinians I needed to know do the Palestinians practice Sharia Law? Are they unchecked radicals so foreign to my own beliefs that I could even dedicate the untrusting part of me to back up this cause? We can all admit that following events in the Middle East is not easy, so no question is really off the table.
The rest of the world for decades has remained largely silent on this situation. The lands in question have belonged to Palestinian families for centuries. However, in a meeting with George W. Bush in 2004, Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon received a letter from Bush that says the Israelis can keep the Palestinian lands they have expanded into illegally. It has become easy, it seems, to deal with the Palestinians as non-people. Bush and Sharon didn’t consult the Palestinians about transferring their lands to Israelis; they just did it. Netanyahu and his team don’t ask the Palestinians in East Jerusalem about whether they want to leave their ancestral homes; they just shove them out.
In 1983 The Hasbara Project is an implementation of influencing millions of Americans to support Israel through American media propaganda. Hasbara is a Hebrew word defined as an explanation. The purpose of Hasbara is to explain and educate western people about the Israeli mission. This project was possibly one of the most successful projects in American history through downplaying Israelian war crimes and demonizing Palestinians. The project’s mission statement was to “Train foreign-service officers in communications by placing them with American companies”. George Orwell called it “The ministry of truth”.
When the media favors Israel all we see is a cycle of violence where most do not really know what is going on. We hear about how Hamas/Palestinians hate Jews, nobody says a word about why. It is about Zionists stealing Palestinian land. We are taught to be sympathetic to Israelis, they tell us it is terror, not territory.
We have politicians like Barrack Obama telling the American people that it is okay for Israel to act the way it does. Israel actually chose to break a ceasefire with Palestinians during the Obama elections so this news only made it to page eight of The New York Times. This ceasefire would be blamed on Hamas. We have to hear the truth sometimes through the news of other countries. This same ceasefire story heard in the U.K announced that Hamas was careful to honor the ceasefire and no Israelis died.
The Intelligence Information Center issued a document proving this. Information was given directly to Journalists from the U.K government as a statement of facts. Without the right information, we are lead to believe that the Palestinians deserve what they get. This one lie alone shows the propaganda used to steer opinions. This shows in polls given to Americans:
The Israel Project’s 2009 Global Language Dictionary was published just for the reason of spinning reality by careful word choice. Examples given are the use of proper words to paint a picture of what it is like for Israeli citizens. Other instructions are words to use in order to “turn tables”.
Similar war propaganda can be seen in posters put out asking people “what would you do” for the point of getting people on their side. If Israelis were truly in ‘the right’ would such steps need to be taken?
All this propaganda along with the term anti-Semitic keeps Israel protected. This term keeps people quiet instead of speaking the truth with fear of being labeled. It is almost foolproof as no one wants such a label put upon them. As long as we keep supporting Israelis Palestinians will continue to suffer. Winston Churchill said, “There is no such thing as public opinion. There is only published opinion”.
